stand out

It’s very hard to dominate Amazon selling if you’re in a competitive niche. Amazon is getting bigger by the minute, with new sellers coming in every day, and there is a lot you need to do in order to get to the top.

And once you’re at the top, there’s the whole business of staying on top. This is way easier said than done, because Amazon is one hectic community. But it’s definitely possible to stand out, even if you’re swimming with sharks.

Here are 3 proven strategies to help you stand out (and keep on dominating your niche).

3 Key Strategies To Make Your E-Commerce Brand Stand Out In A Competitive Niche

1. Build your brand around your passion

If you’re building a brand, it means that you’re doing something you love and care about. There is no way you’re going to stand out if you’re “kind of” doing something you love.

This is why it’s very important to really enjoy the process of building and nurturing your brand. Not every day needs to be blissful, but you definitely have to enjoy the process of “getting there”. Otherwise, you’re not going to make it.

Remember, we’re talking about months, or even years of day-to-day struggle to create something beautiful and present it to the world. The only way to do this is by actually believing in what you’re offering to the customers.

Many Amazon sellers are trying to make a brand because they think it’s “cool” or “profitable”. Sure, it can be both of these things (and it should, why not?) but it’s not the starting point.

You have to truly love and believe in what you’re doing. If you don’t have that, you will be crushed by other brands in no time. So be sure to keep on developing your brand around your burning passion.

2. Crush it with keyword research

Keywords are very important because they’re your direct link to your potential customers. In order to understand your customers, you first have to focus on the keywords.

It’s essential that you research your keywords as if your entire future as an Amazon seller depends upon it. Because, in a way – it does. You won’t get crushed right away, but if you disregard the importance of keywords, your brand will most definitely fail to reach the audience.

This is why you have to dominate the keywords. It won’t be easy at first, but then again – nothing is easy when you’re just starting out. You cannot stand out in your niche after a day or two. It’s a process that requires a lot of work and dedication.

The rule of thumb is this: you have to dominate the longtail keywords as well. It’s not enough to cover just the short keywords. You actually have to match the longtail keywords and phrases your audience is typing in the search bar.

Therefore, your blog posts, social media posts and products descriptions on your store need to be aligned. You have to make sure all the keywords are there. if you don’t know how to start, check on your competitors and see how they’re using keywords. This should give you an idea.

But nevertheless, don’t just copy the way your competitors are using keywords. If you want to stand out, you have to go above and beyond, and do more work than all of your competitors. Some of them are in business for years, for decades… Maybe you don’t have that luxury?

3. Be prepared to advertise

A brand cannot be a real brand unless it’s advertised. Sure, you can have word-of-mouth as a legitimate advertising channel (and it’s really effective, too), but it’s simply not enough.

Think about all the great brands in the world, for a minute. They all have their word-of-mouth advertising, for sure. But they also spend millions on advertising, every year.

Obviously, no one is expecting you to “break the bank” on this, but you must be willing to invest in your advertising in order to develop your brand and stand out.

For starters, you have social media. Be sure to use social media to its full potential. Share your blog posts, interact with the target audience, be as active as possible.

Also, work on your brand identity: slogans, design, the tone of voice, customer personas, etc. all of this is extremely important. And it’s all advertising, although it might not seem that way to an “untrained eye”.

Finally, be sure to invest some money in ads on Facebook and Google. It doesn’t have to be a lot right away, but it’s important to start. And as your income grows, and your brand becomes stronger, be prepared to invest even more, on a continuous basis.

Remember, no brand can remain a brand without being backed up by powerful advertising.
