AMZ Seller Financing • April 8, 2019
pring is the favorite season of many. Wildlife is waking up, flowers start blooming, and trees are getting new leaves. Many get excited for Easter as they are looking forward to spending time with their friends and family.
However, if you own an e-commerce business Easter can mean something else for you.
The Easter effect.
It is, basically, the Easter version of the Christmas craze. Businesses across the world experience an increase in sales in the month before Easter. For instance, in 2017, retailers reported a 10% increase in sales, and travel bookings increased by 17%.
And it’s not just chocolate Easter bunnies and jelly beans. Consumers also purchase clothes, greeting cards, decorations, and more. Statistics also show that a growing number of customers choose to shop online.
Below are a few ways in which you can do that.
6 Ways to Boost Your E-Commerce Sales This Easter
1. Offer Discounts
You’re not the only e-commerce business owner who is aware of this phenomenon. So, expect completion to be heated. However, well-chosen and promoted discounts can definitely put you ahead of your competition.
Put yourself in your customers’ shoes and imagine where they will be and what they will be doing. Then, identify which products from those that you offer may be useful to them. Offer them at a discounted price and make sure to promote your discounts graphics, banners, social media posts, and more.
2. Organize an Egg Hunt
Egg hunts don’t need to just happen in your backyard. There are ways of how you can organize them on your website, social media, newsletter, and similar.
For instance, you can make your customers search through hidden Easter eggs throughout your website or count hidden Easter eggs in a social media post. Make sure to reward them for that though. Lead them to a landing page that offers a discount code or randomly choose a user with the correct answer.
This will not only enable you to sell more, but will also engage your readers and spread mindshare about your brand.
3. Organize a Social Media Contest or Giveaway
There are multiple ways in which you can do so. However, always make sure that your customers need to do something that favors your brand in order to enter the contest. This can be following your account, tagging a certain number of friends, or using a hashtag that you create.
Such approaches will raise your following and increase the reach and visibility of your posts.
4. Create Promotions with Urgency
Things can get intense when there is scarcity or sense of urgency involved. Promotions and campaigns that focus around that often yield positive results.
To do so, you can create a campaign with discounts that decrease over time. You can start by offering a 25% discount 10 days prior to Easter. Then, lower it to 20%, 15% and eventually to 10% right before Easter Sunday.
Alternatively, you can create a campaign that only offers a limited number of your products at a discounted price. Or, it offers them to only a certain number of people who submit their e-mails first.
5. Launch an Easter E-mail Campaign
E-mail is a wonderful way of connecting with your existing customers or people who have engaged with your e-commerce business. And, most importantly, it goes straight to their inbox.
Make an e-mail that includes your discounts and promotions, and send it to your subscribers. Make sure to craft a compelling subject line too. It’s highly likely that your e-mail will be competing for the attention of your customers with other brands. So, you want to make sure that it stands out and attracts attention.
How do you get those e-mails? Keep in mind that you need to provide something valuable to your visitors so that they are willing to exchange their personal e-mail for that. These can be discounts, webinars, e-books, and similar.
Therefore, make sure to always be collecting the e-mails of your existing and potential customers so that you can make the most of your e-mail campaign during occasions such as the Easter effect.
6. Use Humor in Your Advertising
Easter is a holiday that uses bunnies and eggs as its primary mascots when bunnies actually have nothing to do with eggs. There’s no need to be formal. Including some jokes and puns can be an eggcelent way of connecting with your audience and making a more memorable impression of your e-commerce business.
